Retro fitted U-Boat/ Military Tugs with Twin jet drives Two military tugs for sale. They are basically identical except that one has gas motors running 454’s and Dowdy jets. The other runs Perkins Saber diesels power package. They are both twin jets, run and are functional. The hulls are aluminum, and we have made custom aluminum cabins for each tug. Length 32ft Width 7.6 ft The cabins are well designed and allow good visibility. The cabin has a twin bunk/sitting area, forward driving station, hynautic steering, sliding windows, interior lights, diesel heater and breaker panel. The outside of the cabin has roof mounted deck lights, roof mounted hand rail, sliding door/swinging door and an antenna/radar/light bar. The deck included: side rails, cleats, forward pusher bars, tow bar and a swim step that doubles as protection for the jet drives. Each boat has approximately a two hundred gallon fuel tank. Each boat has the original cradle platforms that came with the boat. I imagine these were use for transportation on trains, trucks and airplanes. One of the cradle platforms has been turned into a trailer, the other is just the original cradle. There is a roof mounted remote spot light on center forward of the cabin. Underneath the cabin has good storage for equipment. The couch folds up and can sleep 3 people. The cabin is large enough for extended stay and has room to be modified. Speed & Steering & Draw With 4 Mercury Salt water series motors-(not included) top speed was about 30-35 knots. The boat gets on step at about 15 knots for efficient cruising. The steering is hynautic, with control of the four motors from inside the cabin. Light the boat draws appoxamently 20-24 inches. The forward deck is sheds all water. Any water that does enter the forward deck area can be pumped out with the forward bilge pump. Year Built The boat was built in 1995 by Munson Boats in Burlington Washington. Power Package The boat currently is set up for four outboard motors. The motor platform can handle four 250-300hp outboard motors. The motor platform also has a adjustable mount for a small thrust motor-(15-35 hp) to accommodate low speed/sub knot towing. There is plenty of room in the engine compartment for storage or if a gen-set/hydraulic system was desired. The boat currently has not power package, but four 1998 or 2002 Mercury salt water series motors are available for sale and would easily integrate with the current controls and gauges. The Mercury motors are available but you must contact me to work out pricing on these. Corrosion & Electrolysis I know that many of you will be concerned about corrosion and electrolysis. I have not seen any indication of this on the boat. When we got the boat we mounted 3 8 x 4 x ½ inch zinc plates on the transom where most corrosion occurs. Also, there aren’t a lot of electronics or a fixed generator to create electrolysis. Finally, over the 15 years we had the boat we only operated about 30 months on the lake. Other than that the boat has been sitting in dry storage at our plant. This 1953 Higgins Army T-boat, 2000 is the ultimate live aboard. Close to 1000 sq. ft. of warm, dry and very comfortable living space and literally tons of storage built around the platform of the famous Army T-boat. Excellent running, high efficiency Cat diesel, 2 generators, 3 staterooms, office, large galley, laundry room and 3 heads. This is a tough, tight vessel that fenders are only necessary to protect the dock. Sister ship is the ice breaker for Homer, Alaska. Another sister ship is the Virazon, an archaelogical research vessel based in Turkey. This boat is featured in the Discovery Channels program Ships in 2005. These T-boats were built by Higgins of the WWII Higgins boat fame. There were 85 of these vessels built and the vast majority are still in service. To say these boats are bullet proof would be an understatement. They were actually built with blast covers for the port lights and hardened wiring to withstand some proximity to nuclear blast. This boat is set up to anchor off and live aoard for long periods of time. It has approx. 5,000 gallons of tankage. This vessel has had a major refit, renovation and upgrade since 2000 wth lots of new equipment. This boat is basically turn key. Owner may consider trades. It had high speed capabilities-(no current power package) and carried two crew members, skiff, and approx. 2000 ft of oil recovery boom. It never really was required to carry heavy loads-(although it has the capability to) or work outside its designed purpose. We would also consider removing the lifts and adjusting the price. Two of the models: # 261919 are combined to make the three position motor lift.TrailerThe trailer looks to be in quality condition. Looking at it I’m assuming it is ready for a long distance haul. The bunk boards and trailer frame is not stressed or sagging. It looks to have a new trailer plug on it so I’m assuming the trailer brakes and lights are all functional, but I could not verify this. The tires have good tread and are not dried out. In my opinion, aside from fooling around with some lights or possibly greasing a wheel bearing the trailer is ready for a long haul. We can facilitate any upkeep in order to deal with this as plans for pick up are made.It is built oversized using 8 inch channel for the frame. It also has a triple axle. The trailer is just slightly oversized for the boat. Only by 1-1.5 ft, and I think that in reality it could handle up to a 40 ft boat depending on bow shape. This may be beneficial to you in future dealings with other vessels. Regardless the boat sits really great on the trailer and you can tell the bunk boards have been matched well to the boat hull. In fact I think the trailer will allow you to fill up on 2400-3200 lbs of fuel as well as put a bobcat or couple pallets of lumber on board and tow, launch and recover with no problems. There are no significant dents, cracked welds, or corrosion. Only an occasional bent rail or slight ding or shallow scratch in the aluminum. This boat could use a fresh coat of non-skid on the deck and walkways, but “as is” it is completely functional. The landing door is completely functional. The deck is sound and does not flex. The boat has been sitting for a while and could use a detailing; this can be seen in the pictures. This is generally the case for most boats. For all intensive purposes the boat has not had significant modification. No strange welds or multiple “redos” of any kind. I know that many of you will be concerned about corrosion and electrolysis. I have not seen any indication of this on the boat. When we got the boat we mounted two 8 x 5 x ½ inch zinc plates on the transom where most corrosion occurs. Also, there aren’t a lot or electronics or a fixed generator to create electrolysis. Finally, over the 12 years we had the boat we only operated about 26-30 months on the lake. This 1953 Higgins Army T-boat, 2000 is the ultimate live aboard. Close to 1000 sq. ft. of warm, dry and very comfortable living space and literally tons of storage built around the platform of the famous Army T-boat. Excellent running, high efficiency Cat diesel, 2 generators, 3 staterooms, office, large galley, laundry room and 3 heads. This is a tough, tight vessel that fenders are only necessary to protect the dock. Sister ship is the ice breaker for Homer, Alaska. Another sister ship is the Virazon, an archaelogical research vessel based in Turkey. This boat is featured in the Discovery Channels program Ships in 2005. These T-boats were built by Higgins of the WWII Higgins boat fame. There were 85 of these vessels built and the vast majority are still in service. To say these boats are bullet proof would be an understatement. They were actually built with blast covers for the port lights and hardened wiring to withstand some proximity to nuclear blast. This boat is set up to anchor off and live aoard for long periods of time. It has approx. 5,000 gallons of tankage. This vessel has had a major refit, renovation and upgrade since 2000 wth lots of new equipment. This boat is basically turn key. Owner may consider trades.
