| 30- to 60-something and having trouble finding a roomshare? Does it seem like everybody is 20-something/student and looking for the same? We are two 50-something professionals, Cathy and Douglas (not dating…just housemates) who live a quiet lifestyle in a comfortable 4br/2ba home in Clairemont, near Balboa/805. We are seeking a third housemate to share expenses evenly…1/3 each. 1/3 rent is $625, plus 1/3 utilities, deposit is negotiable. We do not want to rent the 4th br…we like to keep it as a utility/guestroom…we both have grown children who come and visit us for a day or two at a time. The house is clean and comfortable. There is a living room with big TV, dining room, a garage and a shed for storage, and plenty of street and driveway parking. We have a cool, covered patio on which we like to occasionally throw a steak on the barbie. We don’t party but do socialize occasionally, and usually have a small gathering of friends for the Superbowl, Thanksgiving and at Christmastime. If you have a steady boyfriend or girlfriend, they are welcome to visit, and the occasional sleepover is ok if they’re polite and quiet. The room for rent is normal-sized, about 140 sq. ft. It has a room air conditioner, though you only need it on the hottest of summer days. We can furnish it with a queen if you need furniture. We are looking for the same thing as everybody else; someone stable, M or F, straight or gay, no drama, with verifiable income who pays their bills on time, respectful of others, etc. Someone who respects a few simple \"house rules\" and who will ask when they want to do something outside of the “routine.” What we are mostly looking for is someone who is just plain reasonable…who can negotiate the little problems that inevitably arise in roommate situations, without hard feelings developing. If you are divorced with custody or partial custody, give us a call…we will consider living with kids if well-behaved, though wed expect you to pay a little more of the expenses. Cathy has two cockatiels and a cockatoo who do not squawk much, unless you are playing with them. The cockatoo is very sweet, more like a dog than a bird. Unfortunately, due to the hardwood floors, the landlord will not let us have dogs. Thanks for taking a couple minutes to read it. I rent a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house in a safe and quiet neighborhood in trendy South Park. Conveniently located--only 12 minutes to downtown, 10 minutes to the freeway, 5 minutes to Balboa Park, 20 minutes to the beach. I dont have a third roommate, the third room is empty. Room is available now. No security deposit required.Month-to-month.THESE ARE SOME BENEFITS: 1) Youll have the master bedroom which has your bathroom/shower connected to it (behind another door), whereas I need to walk down the hallway to my bathroom; I would prefer to have your room but my California King bed is too large for it and my room is a little larger than yours. Your room measures 12x11 not including the closet and bathroom. The room is on the cooler side of the house which is nice when the weather gets hot, and it has two windows and a ceiling fan. Its wired for cable TV and Internet, but youll need to have your own account/modem for Internet. The room is on the very quiet side of the house, its perfect for a student who needs peace and tranquility; 2) I pay the utilities; 3) Large capacity washer and dryer; 4) 43\" HDTV and Blu-Ray player; I also subscribe to NetFlix and always let my roommate choose upcoming films; 5) Private parking on the driveway very near the front of the house; 6) Since I dont have a third roommate and the third room is empty you can use it for free if you need some storage space or have exercise equipment; 7) Theres a small backyard with a little goldfish pond; its very private, nobody can see into it which is nice when sunbathing, partying, etc; 8) Ill do the housecleaning since I like a clean and neat home; 9) I like my roommate to feel that its his home as well, not like just a guy whos renting a room. Im not territorial, but a person who likes to share. I dont have a list of rules, youre a grownup and know how to clean up after yourself, etc. Ive never had a bad roommate situation and probably never will because Im a nice guy and choose a nice guy as a roommate. Outside smoking okay. No pets (I like them but Im allergic sometimes). Occasional overnight guest okay, but I dont want a significant other over all the time because then its like having a third roommate. Whether youre straight or gay doesnt matter to me its all good, I only care about the honesty and integrity of a man. Ive lived in the house a little over ten years, so Im a stable roommate. $600 a month includes utilities, no security deposit required. You wont be required to sign a lease, but Id hope youll stay at least six months. Youll need to fill out my landlords standard rental application; Ive shown good judgment in the past with choosing a roommate so they wont need to meet you, they trust my judgment if they approve your application. Theyre awesome landlords and the neighbors are friendly. About me: Friendly, polite, considerate, generous, no anger control issues. 6, 185, good health. My tastes vary, I can enjoy watching sports as well as listen to classical music and most things in-between (a girlfriend tells me its because Im a Libra, lol). I like to cook a couple times a week and enjoy sharing with my roommate because its fun to share a meal and conversation.
