Multifaith Works two emotional support programs, CareTeams and Shanti, provide emotional support through two distinctly different models. The CareTeam Program matches a team of five to ten volunteers with an individual or family affected by HIV/AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, or addiction. Shanti staff matches volunteers in one-on-one relationships with Shanti Partners and provide nonjudgmental listening that allows the clients to explore their feelings, identify issues, and find solutions to those issues on their own. Each program is built upon the universal language of compassion and transcends the traditional borders of prejudice and separation. The Peer Recovery Network is a collaborative project that allows Multifaith Works to focus CareTeam and Shanti activities on people who are in recovery from chemical dependency. This project also provides the opportunity to bring together some of Seattles key GLBTQ organizations to more effectively meet the needs of those in recovery.Through the programs of Multifaith Works, lives are changed, and many times, lives are saved.THE PROJECTMultifaith Works Housing program is a transitional and transformation housing intiative designed to provide supportive transitional housing for people living with HIV/AIDS. The Housing Program plays a key role in the lives of single adults living with HIV/AIDS as they move from homelessness to permanment housing. The AIDS Care Continuum in Seattle works to develop and support services that can address many issues related to the disease and its treatment and progression. One important intervention is establishing a supportive housing environment where people who have been disconnected from long-term supportive services can regain confidence, skills, rental histories and build relationships with service providers. The long term postive outcomes of having a safe, permanent place to live is crucial to the maintenance and treatment of HIV related illnesses. The Multifaith Works Housing Program plays a key role in the continuum by assisting people to find a solid footing on their journey to wellnes and stability.The program currently manages five transitional living community houses and one short-term respite house for people who are medically fragile and who need added support. The five houses are located in various neighborhoods throughout the city of Seattle including Capitol Hill, West Seattle, Ravenna, and Beacon Hill. Each home is staffed by a live in Resident Advisor who provides emergency support if needed and works to establish and maintain communication between each housing resident and the housing staff. One of the homes is dedicated to the support and care of people who are living with HIV/AIDS and who are also in recovery from chemical dependency. All of these homes work together to be an important part of the Seattle HIV/AIDS Housing Contiuum of Care Services.THE POSITIONCasa Luis is Multifaith Works transitional home for Spanish-speaking individuals. The candidate must be fluent in Spanish and bi-lingual with English. Oversees residents and facility during weekends and evenings. Ensures residents comply with house rules. Keeps Housing Program Director informed when residents are not complying with house rules. Tracks house supplies and purchases. Tracks basic maintenance and repairs and submits to Housing Director. Collects resident rent. Facilitates a weekly House Meeting held in the evening. Is present for bi-monthly All Resident Meeting (1st Monday in the evening) and monthly Resident Advisor Housing Meeting (4th Wednesday in the morning). Is present for monthly CareTeam potluck or designated monthly community building activity. CareTeam training will be required. Resolves resident conflicts when immediate intervention is necessary and/or refers the situation to the Housing Director. Responds to resident emergencies as needed. Prepares room for occupancy after a resident moves out. Covers other resident advisors as needed. Be on-call one weekend a month. TB Clearance and First Aid/CPR certification are needed. We are literally across the street from the nicest City park in Bellevue and kitty corner for Bellevue Square Mall. The Downtown Park is an active park with a 1/2 mile track around it. Tons of folks use the park, and it even had an ice-skating rink in the winter! We are 1/2 block away from Bellevue Square Mall, 1.5 blocks from the new hip Lincoln Tower with bowling, pool tables, stylish eats, mega-theater and more. To the south we are 1.5 blocks from Old Main street, with whats left of the historic Old Bellevue. To the West another 1.5 blocks is a beautiful lake-front beach, one of many within biking distance. For those needing to commute West towards Seattle, there is a back route to 520 from here that is a major time saver. A little about us. Im Scott, an LMP, kayaker, and climber. I have two beautiful and very well mannered black labs. Carley is a professional Yoga Instructor. Laura is our third housemate and she works two or three jobs and is a wonderful person. Were an easy going group (in our mid 20s & 30s) and we love that our house is cozy and clean and working towards greener living and consciousness. We are avid outdoors adventurers year round, enjoying what the NW has to offer such as snowshoeing, rock climbing, hiking, biking, and lots of Yoga. A few specifics: --Please love dogs.
